Buttermilk Battered Chicken Tenders

So, this is our first post. We decided to start this blog to discuss things we love and pretty much about our lives in general. My sister, LeAnn, and I LOVE Pinterest. So, we find a lot of recipes and like to try them. So far it's been...ok lol, until I made these Buttermilk Chicken Tenders. My husband and I give them TWO THUMBS UP! They were so good, he asked if we could make them again! So, tomorrow for lunch that's what's going to happen.

Ingredients:
6-8 chicken Tenders

2 eggs
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1 Tablespoon Hot Sauce2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Oil for frying

1. Make an egg wash by beating the eggs, buttermilk, and hot sauce together in a shallow dish.

2. Mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in another dish.

3. Dip chicken breast pieces in egg wash then dredge in the flour mixture. For a thicker crust repeat this step, egg wash then flour mixture.

4. In a heavy skillet, heat about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch of oil to 365 degrees. (Or heat a deep fryer to 365 degrees)

5. Place chicken in hot oil, fry for about 5 minutes per side or until golden brown and no longer pink inside. If using a deep fryer it usually takes about 2 1/2 - 3 minutes to cook, at least with our's it did.

*If the oil is not up to temp, the coating will not stick. Do not crowd the chicken in the pan, or it will boil in the oil and not fry crispy.*

Original Recipe provided by Southern With a Twist

Add some homemade cajun french fries and some sweet tea, and you have yourself an awesome dinner! It seriously was great. I thought originally with the cayenne pepper and hot sauce that it might be a little spicy, but it gave it just enough kick to be great!

I hope my sister and I will be able to share with you guys a little more often!

Thanks for looking! Try the recipe and let us know what you think!

Lauren :)
